My name is Avin Carroll - no relation to Pete - and I have a passion for helping people. For most of my adult life I have worked in some form of customer service type job and I have always found the greatest reward in helping. When I worked in the cellular industry it was getting that phone to work, the one that hadn’t worked for days that I enjoyed the most. As a distribution manager it was the rush of successfully rebuilding a route to squeeze in an emergency delivery that made the long hours worth it. Working in IT my greatest joy comes from those moments when I explain a feature or application and I see the understanding in the person’s eyes. For me, in all my work, the thing that drives me forward is service. Of all my jobs though, one of the most rewarding was as an admin for a real estate team. As you can imagine, helping people to find their home, or in passing on their home to its next family, is very fulfilling. It was in this role that I learned how important working with the right real estate agent truly is. More frequently than I should have, I saw that the agents we were working across from would miss things and if not for the work we did the transaction would’ve not closed on time, or possibly failed to close. I’ve heard countless horror stories of people losing thousands of dollars because their agent missed something in a contract or lost thousands on their home sale because their home was priced incorrectly. This is made that much more frustrating when you realize that the agent that made a mistake was paid the same or similar commission as the agent that knocked it out of the park. Why would someone pay a mediocre or even a terrible agent the same as they would pay a great one? Because, most of us don’t know what to look for when hiring an agent.
